Kinaxis® (TSX:KXS), provider of RapidResponse®, delivering cloud-based SCM and S&OP applications, has named industry veteran Sarah Sedgman to the newly-created position of Chief Knowledge Officer. In this executive role, Sedgman will drive strategic initiatives to connect employees, partners and customers in new ways for knowledge generation and sharing. As one part of the overall mandate, Sarah’s organization will launch Kinaxis University, which is currently in development and will encompass all of the company’s education programs.
“I’m looking forward to working with a company that is committed to establishing themselves as a true social knowledge enterprise,” said Sedgman. “There is a real opportunity to take Kinaxis’ knowledge sharing initiatives to the next level and I’m excited to be able to play an integral role in developing innovative strategies and programs that will connect communities, build relationships, and accelerate value for the various stakeholders.”
Sedgman comes to Kinaxis with significant experience in the IT knowledge and learning community, having previously held many global executive positions, including as the Director of Cognos Learning Services, IBM’s Analytics Education Executive, and most recently as the Senior Vice President of PTC University. A true thought leader on knowledge, learning and adoption programs, she has previously owned some of the largest and most profitable global education businesses in the industry, and currently sits on several education services executive boards across North America.
“I am extremely pleased to have Sarah join our executive leadership team,“ said Douglas Colbeth, CEO of Kinaxis. “In this strategic role she will be leading our efforts to become more of an education-based and social sharing enterprise. We believe companies who can become extremely proficient at facilitating learning and knowledge sharing among their employees, partners, and customers will become tomorrow’s industry leaders. Given the growth of the company and our partner relationships, being able to adeptly leverage the significant intellectual property and domain experience of the broader Kinaxis ecosystem is a business imperative for the company.”
